چکیده

We evaluate location-based methods for the auto-discovery of Shared Risk Link Groups (SRLGs), guided by the topology and design of AT&T’s next generation transport network. Under realistic scenarios, we find the methods extremely effective in identifying SRLGs and associated link diversity relationships. 2000 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: (060.0060) Fiber optics and optical communications

Graph transformation approaches for diverse routing in shared risk resource group (SRRG) failures

Failure resilience is a desired feature of the Internet. Most traditional restoration architectures assume single-failure assumption, which is not adequate in present day WDM optical networks. Multiple link failure models, in the form of Shared-Risk Link Groups (SRLG’s) and Shared Risk Node Groups (SRNG’s) are becoming critical in survivable optical network design. We classify both of these for...

Protection with Multi-Segments (PROMISE) in Networks with Shared Risk Link Groups (SRLG)∗

Shared Risk Link Group (SRLG) has been widely recognized as an important concept in survivable optical networks. The issues of avoiding “traps” (to be defined later) in path determination and maximizing bandwidth sharing, are more challenging in providing shared SRLG protection than in providing shared path protection without considering SRLGs. In this paper, we proposed a novel survivability a...

Incremental adaptive networks implemented by free space optical (FSO) communication

The aim of this paper is to fully analyze the effects of free space optical (FSO) communication links on the estimation performance of the adaptive incremental networks. The FSO links in this paper are described with two turbulence models namely the Log-normal and Gamma-Gamma distributions. In order to investigate the impact of these models we produced the link coefficients using these distribu...

Sub-graph routing: A generalized fault-tolerant strategy for link failures in WDM optical networks

Singleand multiple-link failure resilience are of critical importance in survivable wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) optical network design. Networks are not made up simply of logical links, but also of links that are physically routed together or share a common node. Links that share a common physical duct are known in literature as shared risk link groups (SRLGs), and their impact on net...

Achieving Diversity in Optical Networks Using Shared Risk Groups

Diverse working and protection paths are used in telecommunication networks to increase survivability and availability in case of faults. In selecting these diverse paths, it is important that the two paths do not share any links that share the same risk. This is done by assigning each link to a Shared Risk Link Group (SRLG). In this paper, we extend this concept to nodes and domains. Diverse p...
